2023 Regenerator
Amanda Armenteros
To Amanda, becoming a regenerator means access. Access to wealth (in all regards), nourishment, education, safety, and freedom. Where Amanda grew up, it was an upsetting reality that as an Afro Latina woman, many spaces and opportunities were unfairly inaccessible to those that looked like, and came from similar financial backgrounds as her. Only after traveling, and dedicating herself to a path of personal development has Amanda come to understand that true wealth is a combination of mindful ownership over fruitful land, and strong local communities where individuals can create, learn, and grow safely. Working with the ECP is an exciting opportunity to help the community of Peekskill create connections rather than divisions through growth, nourishing food, and creativity.
Outside of her work with the Regeneration farm, Amanda works as a Teaching artist and professional dancer throughout NYC and upper Westchester. Her free time is filled with walking through trails, cooking new fun things, and stretching in the sun! One day, she plans on owning her own land in order to provide for her family and to educate others.
